Acknowledgements

   Leaders from the City of Bonners Ferry, County of Boundary and Kootenai Tribe of Idaho recently formed an historic partnership. This partnership, focused on regional economic and community development, is the basic reason why the Connection Plan process was so successful in engaging citizens. Over seven hundred people participated in interviews, workshops, outreach sessions and public meetings in the community-based planning effort. We are grateful both to these leaders and to the citizens who devoted time to guide the consulting team on the five projects addressed here. It has been an invigorating and thoroughly enjoyable experience. We are highly optimistic that the people of Boundary County and Bonners Ferry will succeed, subject only to their willingness to collaborate in seeking the common good.

   While many people participated in the preparation of the Connection Plan, there are some we would like to thank especially for going above and beyond the call of civic duty. Their participation in long meetings, research, publicity, outreach, and other forms of volunteer assistance led to a Plan that is truly reflective of the community’s priorities and collective genius.
