Boundary County Clerk Diane Cartwright tendered her resignation, effective March 8, to the Board of County Commissioners January 13 to accept a position as clerk/treasurer for School District 101.
Cartwright was appointed clerk October 10, 2000, following the resignation of Kris Larson, and was elected to the office in 2002.
Commission chair Ron Smith said that Diane did an excellent job in a very demanding position, and he and commissioners Dan Dinning and Walt Kirby all expressed their regret at accepting her resignation while wishing her well in her new position.
“While I hate to see her go, this will help strengthen the county’s relation with the school district,” Smith said.
Cartwright said that reaching the decision was difficult, and said she has enjoyed her years with the county and the excellent working relation with members of her staff and other departments.
The Democratic Central Committee has been notified of the resignation, and has the opportunity to submit a list of three candidates from which commissioners may select her replacement.
