At about 8:13 p.m. Thursday, September 11, Boundary County Sheriff’s deputies and ambulance personnel responded to a reported shooting at a residence on County Road 36 in the Smith Lake area north of Bonners Ferry.
Gary Dean Thurman, 64, was taken to Boundary Community Hospital by a neighbor, where he was treated and later released for a minor gunshot wound to the buttocks.
His wife, Wendy Kay Thurman, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery. Bond has not yet been set and the case remains under investigation.
