Voters in
south Boundary County are being asked to go to the polls between 8 a.m. and 8
p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2003, to decide whether or not to form a South Boundary
Fire Protection District.
The polls will be open at the Naples Fire Hall, and every eligible voter residing within the proposed district are encouraged to cast a ballot. The proposed district would include all lands within the dark borders on this map except those lands under state or federal control.
The ballot will be a simple yes or no vote to the question, "Shall the described South Boundary Fire Protection District be formed?"
If voters approve the measure, a taxing district will be formed to provide fire suppression service to those within the district. If approved, the district's annual budget would be a proposed $71,762, and would increase property taxes for those within the district by a factor of .0017, or $1.70 per $1,000 assessed value.
After the polls close, results will be tallied and the results will be posted on this website.
