Area young people ages eight-17 will have a chance to take to the skies on Saturday, June 11th, as Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter #757 host a Young Eagles Flight Rally at the Boundary County Airport. The rally is part of the EAA Young Eagles Program, created to interest young people in aviation. Since the program was launched in 1992, Volunteer EAA pilots have flown more than 1.1 million young people who reside in more than 90 countries. The volunteers hope to give a new generation a change to learn more about the possibilities that exist in the world of aviation. Pilots at the event will also explain more about their airplanes allowing young people to discover how airplanes work and how pilots ensure safety is the prime concern before every flight. Following the flight, each young person, will receive a certificate making them an official Young Eagle. Their name will then be entered into the "World's Largest Logbook," which is on permanent display at the EAA Air Adventure Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Logbook and additional information about EAA and the EAA Young Eagles program is available on the Internet at www.youngeagles.org. Northern Air, Inc. will also be hosting an open house at the airport. In the new hangar, next to the terminal building, Northern Air, Inc. will be providing a free hot dog, chips, and a soda as well as discounted scenic flights for those adults who would like to view our beautiful county from the air. A 20-minute scenic flight will be offered at $10 per adult. We encourage the public to come and see the exciting growth at the airport including new hangars and a new parallel taxiway. Flights for the Young Eagles Rally and airport open house will begin
at 8:30 a.m. and continue through 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11th.
