The unusually nice weather the past couple of months has been a blessing for those of us in aviation. It has allowed for many beautiful flying days.
As the snow falls softly from the overcast sky I grumble, for it keeps pilots, like myself, on the ground. The decreased visibility and the possibility of structural icing are large concerns for pilots this time of year.

Most students over 60 embark on flight training for pleasure and the sheer joy of flying. They are not looking for a career in aviation, but are expanding their horizons and accomplishing a lifelong goal. This is the case of Dick Cutler, who worked diligently this year to accomplish his dream of learning to fly at the age of 70.
Jon and Jeanne Adams, a husband and wife team, recently accomplished a life-long goal of obtaining their private pilot licenses. Jon and Jeanne embarked on the journey of making their dream come true two years ago when they both began learning to fly.
Gray skies and white snowflakes have made the past few weeks quiet ones for those of us in aviation. Many determined students have high spirits and are not letting the weather discourage them, including Jacob Bushnell, Wade Winkelseth, Jennifer Dougherty, Chris Ralph, Jason Garten, and Don James. |
