“Mother Goose is on the Loose” is the theme for the 2004 Boundary County Fair, to be held August 31 to September 5.

There will be special awards and decorations reflecting the theme, and a whole lot of fun! Judith Regehr and a whole flock of volunteers are already at work coordinating the fair, and plans already call for a car show by the Rod Benders Car Club, the 4-H Family Fun Night, family entertainment organized by Jim Sherwood … even the second zucchini car race!

The goal is to interest more volunteers to take part in the festivities each year, and last year’s Lady Bug volunteers got off to a great start. The Ducky Derby was an event enjoyed by all; volunteers and participants alike, and the fair board is on the lookout for even more events next year.

There will be a giant pumpkin contest, an apple pie contest, and the children’s craft area will be expanded.

The fair schedule is in the planning stage, and any suggestions or requests are welcome! Call or stop by the Fair office Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, or attend the Fair Board meeting, held the first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Fair office.

To find out more, call Fair Secretary Pat Dinning at 267-7041.
